Remembering our neighbors

A wall of
living memory.

People spend decades here. They play the same nine, keep the same studio stool, usher the same aisle. When they are gone, the community still knows their name—for a while. This wall is so a story, and a photograph if you have one, can stay in the neighborhood they loved.

Helen

She always claimed the wheel by the window. If you were new, she made sure you had an apron and a joke before you had a bowl. The kiln schedule still has her handwriting on Thursdays. We keep a stool there anyway.

Ray

He liked the executive course because you could talk between shots. 7:12 tee time, same three of us, for years. When he stopped coming we still said his name on the first tee. The round goes faster now, and we like it less.
— His Thursday foursome
Starbright usher

Margaret

She knew every seat in that theater and which ones squeaked. Sunday matinees were her shift. If you forgot your glasses she had a spare pair that were not yours and somehow still worked. The lobby feels taller without her.

These first notes opened the wall so you can see how a memory reads. They are written in the spirit of this community, not as official obituaries. Names and photographs you send will be reviewed, then added with care.

How to remember someone

A name, a few sentences, a photo if you have one.

  • Write as if you are telling a new neighbor who they were on an ordinary Tuesday.
  • A snapshot from the course, the studio, or a patio is enough. We will crop it gently.
  • Family can ask us to edit or take a memory down. This is a neighborhood wall, not a legal record.
  • If you give in their honor, use Ethiopia Hospice Care. Tell us the name so we can note it with the memory if you wish.

Ethiopia Hospice Care can be reached at info@ethiopiahospicecare.org. Their work is the beginning of hospice services in a country where most people still cannot count on that care.

Share a memory

Tell us who they were to you.

Sending opens an email so you can attach a photo. Memories are reviewed before they are posted. If you are donating in their name, mention that in the email.
